Saving anything at a specialist is better than paying full-price I always say. If seems that if you do not have a traditional insurance plan through your employer or work, you just simple do not have any type of coverage and you are stuck paying full price. The provider list was very comprehensive in my area and there were providers within 3 miles of my house and work.
